01 Nile River

The world’s longest river is the Nile River flowing in North-East Africa. The length of the Nile River is 6650 kilometers i.e. 4132 miles. The Nile originates from Africa’s largest lake Victoria, crossing the eastern part of the vast Sahara Desert and landing in the Mediterranean in the north. It originates from areas of heavy rainfall near the equator and forms a long valley flowing from south to north through Uganda, Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt respectively.

It flows through China, Tibet, India and Bangladesh. The Brahmaputra originates in the south of Tibet, near the Mansarovar, from the Himvah called Chemayung Dung. Its name is Ya-Lu-Tsang-Pu Chiang (Yellow) in China, Sampo in Tibet, Dihun in Arunachal and Brahmaputra in Assam. This river flows south into the border of Bangladesh in the name of Jamuna and merges with Padma, the original branch of the Ganges, into the Bay of Bengal. It is the deepest river in the world.

07 Ob-Irtis River

The Ob-Eratis River or Obi River is a river in the Western Siberia region of North Asia and is the seventh longest river in the world. Along with the Yenisei River and the Lena River, it is considered the third great Siberian river flowing into the Arctic Sea. The Ob River begins at the confluence of the Bia River and the Katun River, 26 km southwest of the city of Bišk in the Altai Krai region of Russia. The length of this river is 5410 kilometers (3364 mi).

08 Parana River

The Paraná River is a river flowing in South Central America. It travels 4,880 kilometers (3,030 mi), flowing through Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. It is the second largest river in South America after the Amazon River. The name of the river Parana means ‘huge like the sea’. It first joins the Paraguay River and then falls further down into the Uruguay River and joins the Atlantic Ocean, forming the mouth of the Río de la Plata River.

The river, covering a distance of 4700 kilometers (2922 mi), is the largest in West-Central Africa and the longest river in Africa after the Nile. The river takes seven miles wide form at its mouth and falls into the sea. It releases water containing 2 million cubic feet of mud per second into the ocean, which is four times the average of the entire Mississippi. Its sludge water appears distinctly different from seawater up to 100 miles away from the seashore and up to a depth of 4,000 feet.

10 Amur-Argun River

The Amur River is the 9th longest river in the world. The river is also the international border between the far eastern regions of Russia and northeast China. The Amur River played an important role in land conflicts between Russia and China that began in the 17th century and lasted until the 20th century. The Amur River originates at an elevation of 303 m from the amalgamation of the Shilka River and the Argun River in the hills of western Manchuria. Its length is 4444 kilometers i.e. 2763 miles.
